Ariel Sharon - (Hebrew: אֲרִיאֵל שָׁרוֹן, also known by his diminutive Arik) (born February 26 1928) is a former Israeli politician and a retired general. He served as Prime Minister of Israel, from March 2001 until April 2006, although the powers of his office were exercised by acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert following Sharon's massive stroke in January 2006.
